Thank you all for the feedback. We are continuously working to improve the quality of Skype. Please feel free to report any crashes or performance issues on answers.microsoft.com including steps that lead to a crash so that the community can help troubleshoot the issue.

Skype Helper is using 630Mb of memory when I'm doing absolutely nothing with Skype!

We hear you  ·  Erin at Skype responded

We hear your feedback and are looking into options to make sure you can more easily access your history in Skype.

In the mean time you can use Export Chat History in settings to export your Skype 7 conversations on your computer. From there you can open the conversations in a browser and search using the browser search command.

Thank you all who voted for this request! We have recently made changes which should allow you to see your Username. On Skype 8 You can see it in Settings > Account & Profile under Skype Name field.

In case you created an account using email or phone number you will see your username as live:emailid or live:uniqueidentifier.

No exact release date is available but we are working on adding support to allow users to customize their user name. I’ll keep you posted as we move closer to release

We realize moving away from older versions of Skype is an inconvenience and we’re sorry for that. We wouldn’t be moving everyone forward if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. Watch this site for news about features we’re adding to the current version of Skype and reach out to @SkypeSupport on Twitter if you need help getting settled in the new app.

Thanks all for all the comments and votes around this topic.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. If you want to stop Skype from starting automatically just go to the Settings – General – and toggle Automatically start Skype to Off.

The option to stop Skype from automatically starting is not available in Skype for Windows 10 (version 14). To stop Skype from automatically starting, just sign out of the app.

    Hope it helps :)

"On Windows, select Alt + V to bring up the View menu to zoom in, out, or actual size"

    - Does not work.
    - Zoom only zooms the chat, not the contact list.

We hear you. We love Skype version 7 too. We’re working to build the Skype experience you’ve come to depend on for so long on today’s platforms for today’s user. It would be impossible to bring back the full catalog of features available in previous versions of Skype all at once, our engineering systems just don’t work that way. We are committed to evolving the current Skype experience to match your needs over time. As we release new Skype features, we’ll update this site. You can also follow @Skype and @SkypeInsider on Twitter for the latest news too.
Thank you all for your feedback.
