Thank you all for the feedback. We are continuously working to improve the quality of Skype. Please feel free to report any crashes or performance issues on answers.microsoft.com including steps that lead to a crash so that the community can help troubleshoot the issue.

    > Does ctrl+c work in error dialogs?

Haven't found a way to trigger one, do you know any?

    > Does <shift>+<insert> , <ctrl>+<insert> and
    > <shift>+<del> work?

Those are arguably known almost by nobody (as opposed to Ctrl+c/v), but whatever. First and second works, third I haven't managed to google out, except the one for file-managers, which is irrelevant to Skype.

    > Can you navigate lists by using the initial
    > character of a line to make that line active and
    > selected?

I haven't found any lists, except the one of interlocutors — but there it doesn't make sense to take focus out of either search or dialog boxes.

    >How about ctrl+a, does it select things in a
    >consistent way according ro how Windows works by
    >default?

    It does.

    >Can you select stuff in a list with space?

See my note on lists above.

    > And multi select individual rows with ctrl?

Well, ok, this would be nice to have.

    >Does skype use standard Windows controls everywhere,
    >so if there is a change in how shortcuts and keyboard
    >navigations works in a future version of windows,
    >these changes will affect Skype as well?

"Standard win controls" sucks, exactly because your beloved shortcuts won't work there. Try navigating into Network → Adapter settings; right-click on a network, "Properties", then find anywhere in menus a plain textbox. Type a text, and then press "standard" Ctrl+Backspace. Lo and behold — it insert some odd boxes instead of deleting a word.

Nowadays you have much more modern and active toolkits, such as GTK and Qt, and you'd rather want them, because they handle all of that stuff, and in addition are crossplatform.

    >Does Skype handle and take into account accessibility
    >options that might affect how key combinations work?
    >What about new accessibility options that might be
    >added to Windows on the future? Does Skype handle
    >those too?

Well. Although I haven't managed to check it myself, because I couldn't figure out how to use Orca screenreader, however I see skype in the output of `orca -l`, which lists apps with enabled accessibility, so it should be okay.

I don't understand. Does it not work with keyboard now, or what? You can use tab key to move through GUI widgets. Sorry, description a bit of vague.

I'm on Archlinux if that matters.

Can't reproduce problem: setting $LANG to en_US.UTF-8 before running skype makes it show dates as

"Friday, August 3, 2018", and time as "11:07AM"

whilst setting $LANG to ru_RU.UTF-8 makes it show dates as:

    "3 августа 2018 г.", and time as "11:07".

Global hotkeys are now available in Skype for Windows 10 Insiders build! We are also working on a shortcut for answering a call. It should be available soon. Check it out and let me know how it works for you. I will keep you posted.

But then you have to support that for Win7, Win8, Win10, Fedora, Ubuntu, OS X… It's really a lot of work — and for what benefit? To save a hundred MiB of RAM?
