Get rid of the stupid new black bar along the bottom of the screen. Skype isn't ZOOM........ And I LIKED that.

I completely agree. It is far better to have the whole screen devoted to the video image. Surely the bar could be removed or made transparent.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's hideous. Why do they change the UI for no reason?

Absolutely. The horrible black bar obscures the other person's screen in a shared screen call and as I give tech support and have to see the other person's screen (taskbar etc) for instance, the black bar is totally horrible, unnecessary and a really nasty feature.
