I am having problems with the new translator. When initially announced, it was suggested by Community that enabling it immediately would ensure that translations would continue automatically. They did not.
Eventually after a break the new translator began to operate but it is unreliable and often simply stops in mid conversation and we can find no way of re-establishing it, although occasionally it will work at a later conversation although intermittently and sometime for only one half of the conversation. In short it is not fit for purpose.
I have contacted Community in the hope of finding a solution and they confirm they can replicate the problem but also can find no solution. They suggest it is a work in progress and suggest I send my comments to this link.
At the time the original notification about the new translator came, in December, It seems that my Settings wre unable to contact my browser. An attempt to contact Skype Help, for instance produced an Error Message “ Unable contact Browser” The same message appears when trying to contact Skype Status via Settings .
Under the Account and Profile list
The same error message is shown when trying contact Birthday, Skype Number, Your Profile and Your Account.
When trying to re-establish translation We have “Stopped the translation” and then requested enablement again it worked briefly, then failed again and the last time I attempted it, it was not possible to “stop translation” and it still did not work .
I have included all this in case there is a clue for the techies in the various problems and would only add please for goodness sake solve it quickly.
