I have been Paying for a Phone Number & Calling on skype so the past several years, I am looking for a new service for Only because of the Ringtone issue!
I HATE the ringtone as it distorts my headset speaker & is VERY annoying and crazy loud!I set the volume to 3 EVERY day & EVERY day it is back to 10
Why did you guys break this great program for the windows 10 release?

Be able to customise your ringtone to anything you want, and different audio for different contacts.

Zoom is more popular than Skype because of online classes.
However I completely agree with this topic.
Let me change my ringtone to Megalovania please please.

What is wrong with you? Is it possible that Microbrains has invested its money in Zoom or some other competing product and wants Skype to fail?

creating a working volume setting for the ringtone, like it used to be would be appreciated.
in windows app volume you have 1 or 2 active skype entries, the second one only comes up as you use the rigtone. it is a dysfunctional setting since it does not save it for the next time. for some reason the second one is a bit louder (in my settings 7 for voice vs 13 for ringtone volume) but that is not enough to make me hear it. -

You should be able to have your own custom ringtone on which you could download, and skype should have some of their own ringtones too

We WILL NOT STOP UNTIL YOU ADD IT. IT's SO BORING NO WONDER WHY ZOOM IS WINNING OVER SKYPE. WE WANT CREATIVITY AND ENTERTAINMENT AT LEAST APPRECIATION FROM SKYPE. PLEASE LET US HAVE CUSTOMS FOR SKYPE SO THAT IT MEETS OUR TASTE. One company's product limitations is another customer's Poison

Until this is *finally* implemented, you are able to override the Skype ringtone youself. But it requires some fuss (Warning, only for experienced users):
- get access to the folder where the Skype app is located (usually a subfolder of c:\Program files\WindowsApps\).
- browse to the Microsoft.SkypeApp_.... folder (there are three, but only one contains the "Assets\Audio" subfolder). Go to the "Assets" subfolder and take ownership of the "Audio" subfolder and the files in it. I also disabled inheritance.
- take your favorite ringtone and create two variants of it, one about 5s long and one about 30s long.
- convert them to AAC (I used iTunes for this step since I had it available).
- name the short version Skype_Call_Ringing.m4a and the long one Skype_Call_Ringing_Long.m4a
- now you will need some other operating system that gives you write access to this folder - Windows denies you these rights even as administrator :-/. I used LinuxMint, should work from a USB stick as well. Boot this system and replace the Skype_Call_Ringing... files in Assets\Audio with your own ones
- Now reboot Windows. Skype will still work but refuses to use the ringtone. Go to the Assets folder, reactivate inheritance and set the checkbox at the bottom of the Advanced Security settings dialogue "Replace all permissions of underlying objects...". By doing so, the ringtones will get the correct entries and Skype should accept them from now on - at least until Microsoft decides to distribute an updated version of the Skype app which will undo your changes. -

Are you EVER going to give back the option to change our ringtone? EVERY podcast I listen to that uses Skype (there are MANY) confuses me because the ringtones are all the same. I'm about to unsubscribe from these podcasts and withhold donations TELLING THEM IT IS YOUR FAULT - because it is.
