Everything has been said here already. It's absolutely ridiculous even for a half-baked wrapped web-app to be such a dumb piece of software.
This is not the only issue with Skype, but by far the most annoying and the most easy one to fix.
Microsoft, you are such a lazy bunch! -

I agree with everyone else here. I absolutely hate the ring tone; it makes me jump out of my skin every time I hear it. Phones have been able to change their ringtones for over 30 years, and Skype used to allow you to change; why make it so rigid? I feel we're going backwards.

I just want to say that I hate Skype and I hate microsoft. If you let me change my ringtone, that will not change. But I would please like to change the f****** ringtone

Please. The Skype ringtone gives me major anxiety! I am about to start a new job where I need to use Skype and I am panicking about it. Surely it can't be that hard to make an option to change the ringtone?

WORST RINGTONE! I have to mute my pc when making a Call, couldn't be any louder. We need to be able to customize it!

Current ringtone triggers severe PTSD. There needs to be a way to change it.

I second this.
I find the current ringtone very annoying, and I literally hate listening to it every time I make a call. The notification sound barely noticeable, and I missed some important messages because I didn't hear it. My contacts know not to rely on Skype when they contact me.
For this sole reason, I moved to Whatsapp and Messenger, and use Skype rarely. If I could change the sounds, I would use Skype most of the time.
This is a core feaure included in every alternative.

Hello Skype Team if you are reading this, so there should be an option to choose a ringtone you can like, you can choose Skype premade sounds, or you can upload a sound, the default one should be the 2019 Skype Ringtone. You can find a ringtone changing option in settings in skype, the very bottom is where you can find the option, and I think you can make the ringtone changer support .ogg, .mp3, .mus, and a new file option, .skypesound.
