Caller ID Confirmation to IP or Land Line
There REALLY needs to be an option to confirm the Caller ID setup with a code to a non SMS phone (IP or Land Line), or via email. Or have the option to send a text to a different number than you're putting in as the Caller ID.
Many users DO NOT want their mobile/cell phone# as the Caller ID for their Skype account. This is really poor design and it should never have been set up this way, but since it was, it needs to be fixed ASAP.

Just purchased a Skype number and trying to set it up as caller ID but its impossible.
In order to recieve sms you need a caller `id`which needs a code sending to it when setting up, which you cant recieve..
I completely agree. This is so frustrating that this feature is not an option. Please implement it Skype.
I agree to, I can't verify my new Skype number as a Caller ID and getting a hold of anybody from Skype or Microsoft to help is impossible, I think I'm going to pay a few bucks more and get proper support and functionality from another commercial service.
I agree as well. I was very disappointed to find out that I couldn't set up Caller ID with my landline number, especially when I found out that my calls weren't going through to someone who has a call blocking device which won't accept any calls that say "unknown caller" on the caller ID. Please allow an option for those of us with a landline to have that landline number display on the Caller ID!!
Fully agree. And I think that Lancer's analysis on the matter is brilliant. That is EXACTLY what's needed.
I fully agree. I would be happy to use my mobile number but in my country (Dutch Caribbean) caller identification is not available here. Using a Skype number does me little good because the country I call most (Canada) is not on the Skype caller ID list. There is no possible way for me to not be "unknown".
Agreed. The problem is that the Skype website for user account configuration does not offer Caller ID phone number verification by call-back or email, so there is no way to set a landline number as the Caller ID. When logging into a Microsoft.com account, call-back and email verification options are offered, but not at Skype.com. Why not? A landline number cannot be verified by text message, but the Skype website only offers verification by text message and does not offer the necessary call-back or email verification options for landlines, so landline users are totally disregarded. As a landline user, I paid for a Skype subscription to call landlines and mobile phones, but when I call someone they don't answer because I have no Caller ID. It shows as "Unknown" or "Restricted", etc. That is not what I paid for. Please fix this problem ASAP. This is a priority issue and should not be a continuing problem without a fix.
To the Skype Caller ID verification options, add phone number verification by call-back and email here:
