Offer other options under 'gender' for profile. Just offering 'male' and 'female' is outdated and excludes a large minority of people who are not either and are happy to disclose their gender. If Skype/Microsoft wishes to be seen as inclusive and progressive, then they will offer other options than just 'Other', for e.g. 'Non-Binary'. There are many academic studies that more than suggest the need for more inclusive demographic/profile forms, and many agencies, organisations and even governments who are making positive steps to be more inclusive with demographic information. Microsoft as a major influencer should at least keep up with the curve.
We definitely understand the need here and really appreciate your feedback! As an open minded company we believe in the transformative power of diversity and inclusion, and we strive to create an environment that improves your Skype experience. Thanks for helping improve Skype!

No, stay just with Male and Female. You can just leave the gender blank, you don't need to scream to the world how you identify as a tree.

It would seem to me that none of biological *** (including all the possible varieties), or gender (including the emerging, immense diversity), or ****** orientation (again, hugely diverse) are relevant to a Skype profile. As long as major institutions ask us to choose between 'male' 'female', or in Skype's case 'male' 'female' 'invisible'; the inertia of gender based power differentials continue. My question is, why does a skype contact need to know? Unless one is on a dating site, from where I am on the forementioned curve - it is not condoned to allow a person's gender to be part of any decision making structure - consciously or subconsciously.

you should accept the gender you were born Male or Female there are no other genders whatever is printed on your Birth Certificate is your Gender male = boy female = girl these are the only TRUE CHOICES
I agree, adding "Non-binary" "Gender-fluid", "Other" at the very least, would be so much more inclusive, and make Skype better. I am non-binary myself and dislike having to chose "Male" or "Female"

is it possible to have gender looking avartars for users that dont have profile pics. Then the gender fields can be updated for inclusion & optional field incase some users dont want to share that information.
