Properly restore ability to vary the font and font size of chat
The thread "Ability to vary the font and font size of chat" was wrongly marked as "Complete". (https://skype.uservoice.com/forums/914527-welcome-to-skype-ideas/suggestions/35074219-ability-to-vary-the-font-and-font-size-of-chat)
Since users cannot reopen closed threads, our only recourse is to create a new thread.
In Skype 7, it was possible to set the choice of font and the precise size of the font to be used for chats. In Skype 8, this was removed.
Skype 8 has added a choice of five vaguely-named sizes but does not allow selection of the font or proper control of the font size.
We therefore request the restoration of the actual settings available in Skype 7:
- Choice of font, from all fonts available on the system
- Choice of exact font size, as a number

provide additional font styles to look skype even awesome..
Subtitle / Caption / Font
We need larger font! I’m helping my dad, who is hard of hearing, learn to use an iPad for telecommunications. Skype should be the front runner with the caption / subtitle feature, but it is way too small for my dad to read. We’re going to try Skype while paired to the TV screen to see if that makes the font large enough to read, but we also need accessible font size away from home. I also have to try doing a split screen and use two apps for a phone call, with half of the screen showing Skype, and half showing InnoCaption+ for the captions—this definitely is too hard for my dad to set up on his own, and is a real hassle.
Why doesn’t Skype allow my iPad accessibility font settings apply to their interface?
Skype, it cant be that hard to code your app for font size choices for accessibility?!
You coded a useless choice for color themes, please make accessibility to read the subtitle / caption / font a MUCH HIGHER PRIORITY!
Adjust fonts style option as the option was in the previous version
Font style change option should be in the previous version
Horrible looking font in 8.40
It is ridiculous that I can not enlargen the font! I'm not a frequent Skype user and reading the comments below, I'm beginning to see why...I hope they wake up and listen to their consumers!

2½ months after this idea was posted in response to a thread being edited and wrongly marked as completed, which people are STILL posting to... and not even an acknowledgement from the team.
If this doesn't tell us that MS only has feedback areas so they can in some way justify some of their changes, then nothing does.
Skype people, you are completely wasting everyone's time. If you're not going to listen and act on user feedback then you might as well remove these areas of customer interaction and spend the money on stuffing up all of your other products too.
e used to be a place where we could alter the type, font and size for people who had visual problems. Now its only suitable for those who have good eyesight. GET THIS SORTED. ty
I have dyslexia and the new font is impossible to read.
If you could add the option to change the font to Dyslexie or OpenDyslexic, or in any way add the option to use other system fonts instead of the default font skype is using now, that would be appreciated.
For people such as much with eye sight issues, the ability to enlarge the text size in the chat windows and on the UI is very much needed. Even with corrective eye wear, I can barely see the tiny text on my computer screen or my phone.
Fonts are absolutely horrible on new skype. Please remove those ugly Bold fonts and use some more fansy. Old skype looks way better mostly because of better font choice. It will be nice to give oportunity to the user to change FontFamily and FontSize globally for whole application (not only size for message chart part).
Skype 7 + bigger font works better on wide screens, in Skype 8 even if I change the font to large it looks really bad and hard to read on my wide screen

While typing, sometimes we need to change the Font, its size and sometimes there is requirement of making particular words more prominent which we have to emphasize on. So, we need to make those words BOLD, UNDERLINE & in ITALICS. Can you please Add / Enable complete text formatting option.
I'm wasting my time here, as skype never really listens. Make skype 8 useful and allow font type to be changed to different styles. Arial or whatever. I also just tried the largest font that was "completed" and it's still too small.
Some of us need bold and large font to read. It is unnatural to write on right hand side of page. I was taught to go from left to right in a straight line when I was as school many years ago...... why change it now?

I am OLD. I need BOLD print. Please add that option.

Still not complete. Font selection, and a free choice of font size, are not present in 126.96.36.199.

Hope you have an option wherein we can customize our font style and background color.

Sean, you have my full moral support (and my vote) on this.
Skype product management: If people complain that you're not really listening, then it's _exactly_ because of things like this. The original idea seems pretty simple and unambiguous to me ("a fundamental setting in earlier versions"). And then, after a few months(!), you deliver something that is well below the baseline. Which would be restoring the feature exactly as it was in earlier versions. Impressive, in a negative sense.
Please do an internal retro on what the heck went wrong here, and analyze carefully, to prevent these misunderstandings from happening in the future.
What led to this pretty reasonable feature request being implemented in such an incomplete manner? Was the request not translated into a well-defined user story? Who watered down the acceptance criteria? Is your engineering team scared of the system font dialog? Did someone, anyone, in the teams flag this, and suggest a proper implementation? If so, why were they ignored? Etc. etc.
I believe that gaining this understanding and learning the right lessons from it is key to being able to improve your product to actual benefit of its users. I have my own idea tagged with "Working on it", and I'm seriously scared of what might get released as a result. It's like asking for an orange (because the perfectly fine orange that you just held in your hand got taken away) and getting a rotten apple with a worm inside handed instead.
Just my two cents in case anyone at Skype is wondering why users are so upset. I don't know how I can be any clearer.
