Bring back split view for all versions
The original "Bring back split view" thread was marked as "complete" even though it is only available in the Windows 10 app, not the desktop version.
Split view mode must be made available in the desktop version too.
Helloooooo Dev team? Do you read?
This feature is still not available on Win 7... But oh yes, forgive me, Win 7 is no longer sustained by M$... I forgot that users are expendable...

After last update (v 18.104.22.168), skype switches off split-view several times a day :(
After last update, skype switches off split view by itself.....several times a day :/

There's a bug after viewing a sent photo you can't close it to return to chat, you have to close that chat and reopen it again.
Another one is when there's new chat, there's a time when you can't see it on an already opened chat window.
Please make it work like before.

you need to make it where we can tell that split window where to open, and always open in the same spot, instead of always opening in the default location ( which is always where I dont want it ). Msn messanger had this abillity and it was simply the icing on the cake ! :) This truely was the biggest loss going from MSN too Skype back in the roll-over days. Thanks for bringing it back. In a business world this has a huge relevance in how it functions for my sales team.
red for do not disturb, yellow for away. Still no split view mode for the desktop version, like with the app

Message input box not getting the autofocus its so anyoing :( . https://robloxmusics.codes
Finally split view....but the chat window won't pop-up if someone writes/new chat starts. And even if the chat window is visible on the taskbar...the taskbar tab won't blink/show if other person has written something. Only small red dot on tray icon....

I have enabled the Split view mode. If I open a chat, message input box not getting the autofocus. It needs another click(so annoying).
It just showed up on my Skype. Activated it right away! Thanks! :)
THIS IS FABULOUS !! And a mere 9 months later, you have restored a basic, buggy version of the removed functionality.
At least, so I assume from the messages below. Our team got fed up with waiting and moved to Slack 6 months ago.
can't use search in deep history at multiuser chat. window just hanging. can't determine in wich chat recieved message without opening the main window.
P.S. what a piece of **** you have made...

Weird. I'm on Skype Version 126.96.36.199, the changelog says split view is there, but I'm not seeing it in more options. sometimes it seems like the changelog talks about features that aren't in the latest update, but they end up being in the next one. What's up with that?
Ok,,:) Found the setting this morning [ more (. . .) on main window].
Only issue I have (so far) is LIMITED ability to RESIZE - I want to make them smaller to fit more on my screen at a time, and seem to have a "fixed" minimum
Glad to see something finally moves in the right direction, but will keep my hopes down till I'm able to play around with the spit view mode a bit, since given the nature of the current (new, shiny and broken) client I've my doubts it is on par with the original (old, "ugly" and working) client.
I did. I downloaded it and the only difference is now the Skype status shows 'colors'. Green for available, red for do not disturb, yellow for away. Still no split view mode for the desktop version, like with the app.
For the love of all that is holy, please fix this feature so that when you resize these chat windows, the size is *remembered* for next time. It's a major hassle to adjust the window size every single time.
To answer the questions below, as of today, you still need the Preview version. This didn't make it into the "regular" 8.51, but likely will 8.52.
