Allow unlink Skype from the MS account without deleting the account
- Provide an option and instructions to update old non-MS live Skype accounts to be updated to a MS live account, rather than creating a new unneeded and unwanted Skype account.
- When installing Office 365 and it asks for your Skype name, but won't recognize it because it was created before MS bought Skype. Give the customer the option to stop and associate the account to avoid an erroneous account being created. Provide specific information regarding what will happen if you don't and that it will create a new Skype account and MS won't allow you to unlink it or link your actual original account.
- Allow the ability to unlink a service Skype or otherwise from a MS live account.
- Allow the ability to link an existing pre-MS ownership Skype account to MS live to avoid issues.
- Allow a subscription setup during install to be move to another Skype account, i.e. the original account and not the erroneous account created by MS when installing office
They are not considering this feature because the admin hasn't reply.
This has been an ongoing problem since 2 years ago++ for many of us. is there any ETA? this is quite ridiculous..
This would be fantastic... There is an ETA?
Agreed. I only use my microsft account for Xbox anda now i want to delate my Skype account, but if i delete my Skype account i Will deleate mi Xbox account to. This dont have sense
Microsoft, see service request : 1489619128 for full information of my issues and lack of solution
I had a similar problem driven by my desktop not synching with my phone. When I investigated it further I discovered that I had two IDs. One was my original skype ID (for me this was "fisrtname.lastname") one was (I assume) a Microsoft forced ID of "Live:firstname.lastname" which I assume it pgenerated when they took Skype over and started forcing people to log into the Microsoft ID system.
This led to 2 separate accounts with some data shared between them both (from the Microsoft side?) but most of it not (the old Skype side?).
To overcome the issue I logged out of the Microsoft controlled account on my iPhone and logged back in again but this time I did not use the email to login but my original Skype ID and lo and behold, all my data downloaded and my phone and computer were aligned.
This probably will not help Microsoft Live committed users but for the rest of us on Apple or linux who do not want a Microsoft ID, it gives back control (well, sort of, Skype is still owned by MS!).
Hope this helps.
Need vastly better and more flexible account and service management.
Please separate identities and services, and work from there.

I have an issue where I have two separate microsoft accounts. One is linked to my primary skype account, and the other is my primary microsoft account linked to all of my devices.
I would like to be able to merge these into a single account.

Microsoft needs to get their act together when it comes to allowing users to manage their accounts better. I didn't realize the implications of letting my son use my Microsoft account on his computer and game system. Now every time he forgets the password and changes it, I can't access my Skype account because the password has changed! I would like to move his stuff to a different Microsoft account, but of course, Microsoft doesn't allow that and I can't give him my Microsoft account and move my Skype account to a new Microsoft account either. So I'm stuck with a shared Microsoft account!

Completely support the idea. I was using Skype long ago MS acquired Skype. But when I created MS login the second Skype login was created. Then it creates a lot of mess. And it led to payments to the erroneous account.

Agreed. My current Microsoft account that has Office 365 subscription has Skype account that ends with "_1" because I already owned Skype account with the same name. But I can't seem to delete/unlink my less desireable Skype account to my old Skype account. It's so annoying.
If I wanted everything cubed under one email address I'd use the same email address to sign up for everything. Being forced to use a Microsoft account feels like invasion of privacy. No need for a Microsoft account! I'd delete Skype but need it for work.
Hi. I want to separate my hotmail account and my skype. I want to put two different passwords in each one
I absolutely hate Skype right now! I DON'T WANT THIS BLASTED ACCOUNT LINKED TO MY MS ACCOUNT!!!! ALLOW UNLINK FROM MS without deleting the entire account. Furthermore we can't create a new account using an old email! This sucks, like all ****!
What literally everyone on this thread has said; Microsoft: take your dam head out of your dam ast. force-merging MS accounts with Skype and X-box live with no take backs was one of the dumbest things you guys ever came up with.
We have a client who does not support chatting with Skype live accounts on their premises. We need to unlink our live accounts from MS account so that we could use Skype for chat and not other instant messaging software.

I really hope someone reads this and takes it seriously. My daughter has a Skype account that was associated to my Microsoft account and every time that she changes her password it automatically changes in my MS account. I would really like to disassociate them. If I could only replace it with her own MS account it would solve the problem. I cannot understand why this is not permitted!!!
It can be difficult to set up a new Skype account on a new device, At present your troubleshooter glibly states "you may have multiple accounts which may be unknown to you". Please provide an easy way to terminate or close down old, forgotten, unwanted, compromised or multiple accounts so they do not make it difficult to set up a new account .
I would like to delete a Skype account that I have accidentally created, however, it shares the same email address as the correct one that I normally use. Why it is not possible to remove the wrong ID while leaving my entire Microsoft service safe?

I WAS HELPED TO OPEN A SKYPE ACCOUNT AND DID NOT USE ANY USER NAME. NOW I HAVE A SILLY SKYPE NAME WHICH I CANT ALTER. NEITHER ME NOR MY BUSINESS PEOPLE CAN REMEMBER SUCH A SILLY SKYPE NAME CONSISTING OF ALPHABETS AND NUMBERS.
THERE SHOULD BE AN OPTION TO EDIT AND MODIFY THE SKYPE NAME PLEASE.
ALSO IT IS A SILLY IDEA TO BE UNABLE TO DELETE MY SKYPE ACCOUNT WITHOUT LOSING MY MICROSOFT ACCOUNT.
SKYPE ACCOUNT AND MICROSOFT ACCOUNT SHOULD NOT BE LINKED WITH EACH OTHER AND PLEASE SHOULD BE SEPARATED.
