Desktop API for Skype 8
I have a Plantronics .Audio 628 Skype certified Headset that has inline controls particularly an Answer/End Call button that use the Plantronics Hub program to make it work. That program uses Desktop API which is available in Classic Skype.
Unfortunately Desktop API seems to be ABSENT in Skype 8.
I would like to have the answer/end call buttons to work with Skype 8 so I could answer or end calls faster. So please bring Desktop API to Skype 8
Thank you for your feedback. We already support some human interface device (HID) commands on our Universal Windows Platform Skype app. Our current support includes end call, mute/unmute your mic, and increase/decrease volume.
You can install our UWP app from the Windows Store app.

Yep. Same issue here. I have a Plantronics Voyager UC / BT300. Skype forced me to update few days ago, and I lost all my call controls. Pretty ****** about it.
Basically, without using version 7 of Skype call controls will not work anymore with the Plantronics Hub desktop software.
Skype, please STOP making breaking changes and crippling everyone's hardware.
I'm seriously considering stopping my subscription with Skype. I can't support software that gets worse every year.
@Thomas I was planning on buying a Jabra headset thanks for the tip. I really hope MS brings Desktop API back for Desktop clients
Same goes for Jabra devices. It worked so well in old Skype, now it is just a normal headset.
I feel for you ...the same with the once 1080P certified Logitech C920
