I have a Plantronics .Audio 628 Skype certified Headset that has inline controls particularly an Answer/End Call button that use the Plantronics Hub program to make it work. That program uses Desktop API which is available in Classic Skype.
Unfortunately Desktop API seems to be ABSENT in Skype 8.
I would like to have the answer/end call buttons to work with Skype 8 so I could answer or end calls faster. So please bring Desktop API to Skype 835 votes
Thank you for your feedback. We already support some human interface device (HID) commands on our Universal Windows Platform Skype app. Our current support includes end call, mute/unmute your mic, and increase/decrease volume.
You can install our UWP app from the Windows Store app.
The divider should allow being moved and remember its position. Again, like in Skype 7.
Often I want a larger typing area than one line at the start (rather than waiting), and it's tedious resizing it with a bunch of Ctrl-Enters. Even then you're limited.104 votes
Thanks all for all the comments and votes around this topic. We are looking into options how to improve typing area, so it meets your needs. I’ll let you know if anything changes.
Skype 8 should retain chat history locally in ADDITION to the cloud, which stores only 2 years of it. It not doing this now means that eventually older history will "scroll off" the cloud, gone forever. All history should (optionally) be stored locally, like in earlier versions of Skype.
And merely letting us export (which Skype 8 also doesn't do for its OWN history, as opposed to Skype 7's history) isn't a sufficient solution, since having a bunch of export files around is hardly an efficient way to find an old message.630 votes
We hear your feedback and are looking into options to make sure you can more easily access your history in Skype.
In the mean time you can use Export Chat History in settings to export your Skype 7 conversations on your computer. From there you can open the conversations in a browser and search using the browser search command.
The ability to group contacts in custom lists such "Friends", "Family" etc, and be able to show those within the app.411 votes
Hi everyone, thanks so much for this request. We have thought this through and due to other high priority engineering that the product needs we decided to prioritize other user-requested items for now. Please keep continue supporting this Idea and we will review it again later. I’ll let you know if anything changes.
